Introducing The New WB

Written by: Wireless Bollinger

Hi all,

First question must be: what happened to the old site?

In short, it got a virus. Rather than plough on with it, we decided that it was time for a facelift and a rethink. So we went away for some months and plotted the sterling new creation you see before you with our good friends at Moogaloo. The time away has been good for us in more than just design. We’ve sharpened up the writing, there is more interactivity and we’ve got a larger staff.

Second question might be: where are the long reviews?

While it wasn’t an easy decision to move to the shorter writing format we think the new style speaks for itself. Too often music reviews are lengthy for reasons totally unrelated to the music. It’s different to the glory years of music journalism, when you needed a reviewer to tell you what an album sounded like. Music is everywhere, you can access it. It’s not our job to tell you what it sounds like. It is our job to help you sort out what’s worth listening to amongst the stream of new releases.

Rather than tell you what WB stands for we hope that the writing on the site tells you everything you need to know about us.

What I will tell you about is the new site design and some of the added features we have.

Desert Island Disks (left of the site) – Which disk do you prefer? Simply choose between the two albums. It’s a living poll, all votes are calculated immediately and you can click ‘view results’ to see who is leading.

Rants and Raves (under columns) – WB writers let us in on their deep and dark thoughts. Whether it’s Ed Butler ranting about tall people, or Dan Osmolowski professing a love of post rock, you’ll find all sorts of marginal opinions here.

Random Quote (bottom of site) – Fairly self-explanatory, but cool none the less.

Top/most read reviews of month (under reviews page) – Time starved? Check out the best and most discussed albums of the month

All this and more is housed in the new WB. We hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

The WB team.

P.S If you’ve got any feedback for us or want to write for WB click on the contact page and we’ll get back to you.
