Brent Harris, drummer for Kiwi pop-punk upstarts Cut Off Your Hands, has stepped down from his duties in an attempt to halt the progress of a hearing loss problem that has plagued him since his mid-teens. This follows guitarist Michael Ramirez's departure in January of this year. No replacement has been announced for Harris, but you can stay up to date on the band's blog here.
Fresh from a name change and dates around the world, Santigold (neé Santogold) will tour the US one more time before settling back into the studio to record the follow-up to 2008 smash Santogold. These will be the first dates in North America will full band and back-up dancers.

"If this were Ben World, this would be my greatest hits album. I'd rather this be my greatest hits record than someone collecting my masters and slapping on a photo of me leaning against a piano". That's how Ben Folds describes University A Capella, recordings of university singing groups covering his songs, out next week on April 28.
Maybe feeling jealous, Folds recorded two a capella versions himself, 'Boxing' and 'Effington'. All the solo Bens can get cringy, but I reckon this seems like a good way to do Folds' material.

16. The Luckiest - The Washington University in St. Louis Amateurs
Many of the groups will open dates on Folds' upcoming tour.
Oops, totally forgot to tell all of you. Eddy Current Suppression Ring won the Australian Music Prize for their brilliant record Primary Colours! They beat Ross McLennan, Cut Copy, the Drones, Beaches, etc. ECSR say they will use the $30,000 in prize money to 'severely over-produce [our] next record', to be hopefully entitled Sufficient Funds, after their first two records were recorded for a sum totalling under a tenth of their AMP prize.
The Red Bull Award in Recognition of Outstanding Potential (at a not paltry $15,000) went to Jack Ladder, for Love is Gone.
Elvis Costello is a smart cookie. Seen him chatting with Bill (Clinton) and Smokey (Robinson) on his show, Spectacle: Elvis Costello with...? Well, he's obviously not the sort of bloke to shrink into contentment and his new album sounds intriguing.
Secret, Profane and Sugarcane will come out June 2 on Hear Music (the Starbucks label) and is set to be an all-acoustic, country-bluegrass affair. Costello enlisted T-Bone Burnett to produce and play, as well as a host of session players, while Loretta Lynn co-wrote a song and Emmylou Harris sings on another.
European fans of Antony and the Johnsons have a chance to witness something special this summer. Antony will be playing a string of shows with local large format orchestras (36-52), with arrangements Hegarty has developed with Nico Muhly.
