Eric Pulido of Midlake Launches Cappulido Coffee
Wed:30-Apr-08

Eric Pulido, guitarist of the critically lauded band Midlake, has launched his own brand of coffee. Cappulido Coffee was born in the Spring 2008, and features six different blends of fair traded coffee. With each purchase of Cappulido Coffee, you are giving aid directly back to farmers in developing countries, lending them the financial support necessary to continue developing an excellent product and compete in the world market.

Cappulido's distributor visits small estate farmers in several developing countries to achieve a firsthand understanding of the devastating impact of falling coffee prices and the resulting growing plight of farming families in developing countries.

So why not support small estate coffee farmers and independent music and get caffeinated with Cappulido? There's even a nifty monthly subscription option, where you can have a bag of beans drop on your doorstop at the top of every month.

DVD Colaboration between The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil
Fri:25-Apr-08

On Sat 21 June, Apple Corps Ltd/Cirque du Soleil will release the feature-length documentary All Together Now on DVD. The film details the story behind the unique partnership between The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil that resulted in the creation and launch of Love, the stage production still wowing audiences at The Mirage in Las Vegas, and the double Grammy-winning album of the same name.

All Together Now faithfully recounts how the Love project came into being, borne from the personal friendship between George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte.  Harrison saw how the twin talents of Cirque’s artistry and The Beatles’ music could be fused into something new and totally original.

The director, Adrian Wills, records early meetings between the Cirque & Apple Corps Ltd. creative teams, as well as contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison discussing how The Beatles’ music can be used in a different way. These early stages of the project were all filmed, as were the first rehearsals at the Mirage Hotel theatre in Las Vegas, which was completely rebuilt with a one-of-a-kind sound system and complex round staging to house the Love show. George and Giles Martin, the show’s Musical Directors, were involved every step of the way with the remarkable Cirque du Soleil creative team, performers and backroom staff.

The All Together Now documentary and bonus features provide a fascinating insight into the creative skills and passion that went into making this project a groundbreaking critical and commercial success.

Thu:24-Apr-08

Great news for one of Wireless Bollinger's favourites!

Little Red are thrilled to announce they have teamed up with Shock Records to release their much anticipated debut long player. The album, out in July on the band’s own imprint Hooch Hound Records, was recorded at Melbourne’s Sound Park and Martin St studios with producer and engineer Steven Schram (Annika Trost, Devastations, Custom Kings).

The album caps off an incredible 12 months for the band, which saw them touring with Spoon, Shout Out Louds, The Pipettes, Operator Please, Art Of Fighting, The Vasco Era and The Temper Trap and appearing on some of the biggest bills in the country including St Jerome’s Laneway Festivals, V Fest, Push Over, Big Day Out, The Falls Festivals, Meredith, and Queenscliff Music Festival. Through relentless gigging the band have rapidly built up a great live reputation, winning hearts and minds everywhere they play.

Next up for this fab five is the launch of the first single, 'Witchdoctor', from their forthcoming album at the Corner Hotel in their home town of Melbourne on Thurs 24 April. They’ll be releasing their EP on Sat 26 April (through Shock), then taking off for a national tour supporting The Panics followed by a slot on the Come Together festival bill in June before releasing their debut album on Sat 5 July. Asobi Seksu Sign To Polyvinyl Record Co.
Mon:21-Apr-08

New York dream pop sophisticates Asobi Seksu have just inked a deal with Polyvinyl Record Co. Following the 2006 release of its second album, Citrus, the band happily found itself trotting the globe for nearly two years.

Preparing to head back to the studio in June to record Asobi’s third proper album, guitarist and songwriter James Hanna is excited about the band’s next chapter. “I couldn't be happier to be working with Polyvinyl. They are such a well-respected label and have a great sense of post-punk, diy ethics. Yuki and I are both huge record junkies so the fact that they are super into high quality vinyl releases with such creative packaging is exciting.”

Details on the release of the new album will be announced once recording is finished. In July the band will return to Europe for some festivals and other soon to be announced gigs.
