Augie March have made three albums in twelve years. Glenn writes a lot of songs, so it's only the bluest-chip tunes that are deemed album-worthy. The band don't start making albums until they have enough of them blue-chippers. And that's aroundabout NOW. They are currently in Neil Finn's Roundhead Studios in Auckland, New Zealand with the wonderful Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, The Shins, White Stripes, My Morning Jacket + many more) making Album Number Four, due out in Australia in October this year. On a particularly puzzling, frazzling day involving a fried band and crew, the buzz of new promise in a big land, long-haul sleepless dementia and a 9.3 on the Collective Minibar Hangover Scale, the band tumbled out of a brown 15-seater and into a famed Los Angeles studio and sublimely leant into a semi-acoustic concert, straight to tape. It came up great, unsurprisingly, and it is now available as free download via the band's website.
